BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Korea, lived in bay area California,recently moved to Boise ID.
Recieved my bachelors degree in 1981 and my masters in 1987
fine arts from Chungang university in Seoul Korea.
In 1994 I had my first solo exhibition in Seoul Korea and after
I had exhibitions in Korea, America, Germany and other countries. 
In 2003 I moved to U.S.A and I developed a new perspective and began using mirrors
as my new medium as opposed to canvas.
This gave me an opportunity to see the reflections caused by the mirror and the paint combining. 
I began to see movement in my paintings from the reflections in the mirror.
This gave me an opportunity to view my art from a whole new perspective.

ART STATMENT
​
​
I was staring at the ocean every day for years before I moved to the USA.
I have missed my hometown and the ocean , I realized I had fallen in love with the ocean.
So I started to paint the ocean that I saw every day and I never tired of painting the ocean.
I want to paint the way I see the ocean to me it is beautiful and dramatic all the time,
never to be the same. Words are not enough to express the sea.
I am trying express what I see, what I feel with my Art.
Mirrors seem to capture the light on the water in so many different directions
and reflect it back to me. I really enjoy taking my Art to this level.
I am learning as I am painting. 
The mirror and the paint all come together in a wondrous combination of color and light.
As I am painting oceans, rivers and lakes on mirrors I realize our world is composed of many different kinds of natural wonders, these treasures give me inspiration.
To me water is life. I try to bring that life to my paintings.
Using mirrors helps me to show the glimmering effect light has on the water.
Sometimes I like to express it abstractly.
